A COMMUNITY came together for a day of live music in memory of a teenager who died at a festival.

Music for Megan was held in the hometown of 17-year-old Megan Bell, who died last July at T in the Park in Scotland.

Last month, a coroner concluded she suffered a drug-related death after an inquest was told high amounts of MDMA, or ecstasy, were found in her body.

Her family, who believe her drink could have been spiked, have launched a charity in memory of the former St Anthony’s Catholic Girls’ Academy student.

Megan’s Rainbow Support Trust has been set up to offer counselling to families who lose a child and to help them meet the unexpected cost of a funeral.

On Saturday, artists played on a stage donated by Seaham Town Council set up on Terrace Green to help raise funds.

The event was organised by Laura Ward and Gillian Graham.

Performers included The Bunker singing group, from Sunderland, The Social Room, Mia Paris, Thieves of Liberty, Beyonce tribute The Irreplaceable and DJ sets from Krisis North East and Chris Bungoni.

Megan’s dad Chris Bell, 45, said: “Everyone said what a great night it was. We are going to try and get it on every year if we can.

“The community has really come together and we want to thank the people of Seaham.”
