POLICE investigating an alleged rape in Darlington are appealing for businesses with CCTV footage of the incident to come forward.
A 38-year-old woman was atatcked on a grassed embankment off St Augustine’s Way - just behind the Halfords store - shortly after midnight on Wednesday, May 17.
The victim was wearing a yellow coat and carrying a red handbag at the time.
Any businesses with potential CCTV footage of the incident in the town centre and Russell Street, Valley Street North, Weir Street and Chesnut Street areas are urged to contact Durham Police on 101, quoting incident number CRI00054651.
A 21-year old man appeared in court last month charged with two counts of rape and one count of making threats to kill.
Abdel-aziz Faysal Al-Shamary, of Pensbury Street, Darlington, was remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Teesside Crown Court on June 12.
