AN environmentalist and filmmaker has been showing children the damaged caused to historic sections of the Eston Hills.
Craig Hornby took the Year 5 pupils from Normanby Primary School on a seven-mile hike to explore the area on the outskirts of Middlesbrough, which was devastated by arson attacks over the Easter holidays.
He said “People say they should teach kids in schools about the dangers of arson and joyriding on the hills. We do every year as we navigate along destroyed footpaths and past burned out wrecks. These kids know it’s wrong and are always saddened by it. Hopefully days like this and learning about it all back in the classroom will stay with them so they will always appreciate the importance of looking after their heritage.”
