A MOTHER and son who completed Butterwick Hospice’s Rainbow Dash last year are set to help launch this year’s event.

Sarah Tubbs and her son Austen, five, will officially open the event at the start line as the cannons filled with colour are fired into the air.

Last year’s colour run attracted families from all over the North-East who collectively raised more than £28,000 for Butterwick services to adults and children across the region.

Butterwick Hospice fundraiser, Helen Kirby, said: “We love to see all ages and abilities of people taking part in this event.

“It really is an event for all.

“You can walk, jog, skip, push or hop your way to the finish line through a spectrum of colour in the already stunning forest.

“It really is a sight to see.

“I’m so pleased Sarah and her son Austen are able to launch one of the biggest fun runs of the year, the Butterwick Rainbow Dash.”

Places are still available for the event which is due to take place on Sunday, May 21, in Hamsterley Forrest.

Adult registration for the event costs £17.50, young people aged between ten and 16 can register for £12.50 and under 10s can register for free.
