LITTER pickers, young and old, turned out in force to tidy up a town ahead of a visit from the Britain in Bloom judges this week.
Supporters of the Bishop Auckland and Coundon in Bloom campaign joined the town’s mascot, Bishop the Boar to clean up the Bracks Farm area.
Joy Allen, chairwoman of Bishop Auckland and Condon in Bloom said: “It was absolutely fantastic and great to see the kids getting involved.
“The bloom initiative is not only about decorative flower displays, it’s about the community coming together and making a difference.
“We have some beautiful gardens and talented gardeners in Bishop Auckland and we hope to showcase these over the coming months.
“Already gardeners are coming forward and offering to share their expertise with less experienced gardeners.
“Bishop Auckland Golf Club and the Merry Monk pub are the latest businesses to sign up and we hope many more will follow suit.
Anyone interested in getting involved should email bawithcinbloom@gmail.com or call 07789-907441.
