THE summer season will soon be starting to take shape on Redcar seafront as plans are in place for the return of some impressive sand sculptures.
Kick off the Summer, an annual event which is organised by community group Friends Of Redcar in partnership with Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, will welcome sand artists from around the world to craft spectacular creations.
And ahead of the big event at the end of May, business owners are invited to meet the sculptors at a presentation showcasing promotional and advertising opportunities.
Councillor Carl Quartermain, the council's cabinet member for jobs, skills and leisure, said: “Sand sculpturing UK are an international group of expert sculptors who have thrilled residents and visitors with their amazing sand creations on our seafront for the past two years.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for local businesses, not only to expose their business to locals and tourists, but to help us drive forward tourism and promote our amazing seafront and town centre.”
The presentation takes place on Thursday, April 27 at 6pm at the Palace Hub and anyone interested in attending needs to register beforehand by emailing friendsofredcar@gmail.com
Kick off the Summer, which will be putting on activities and entertainment, is taking place on Friday, May 26 to Monday 29.
