FROM an epic open air night show to a gruelling walk across open moors- this group of friends likes to keep busy.

The seven-strong team met and became friends while volunteering for the first season of Kynren, in Bishop Auckland, last year and set themselves a charity walking challenge.

Earlier this month they took on 42-mile The Lyke Wake Walk across the North York Moors, between Ravenscar and Osmotherley, in just one day.

Few of them had done much long distance walking until they began training around Christmas but each was spurred on as they chose to collect sponsorship for different causes close to their own heart.

Karen Walton raised £300 for the PDSA, Lee Tonner made £120 for Tees Wheelyboat, Audray Shoulder collected £210 for Ark on the Edge, Helen Mills raised £338 for Durham County Carers Support, Andrew Hall made £360 for Butterwick Hospice, Joanne Furnell made £250 for Bradley Lowery and Val Elcoat gave the Multiple Sclerosis Society £150.
