A TALENTED student from a North-East college has won a silver medal at the final of a national competition.
Ellis Swan, who is studying at New College Durham, was competing in the ladies commercial cut and blow dry category at the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists (AHT) finals in Blackpool.
The 17-year-old, who is working towards a level two diploma in hairdressing, said: “I was so happy when they announced I had won silver. The standard was very high and I didn’t expect it at all. It will be great for my future career.”
Tutor Sam Nolan said: “Ellis is a fantastic student. He has given 100 per cent from day one and has shown tremendous commitment and dedication, which has paid off.”
A team of hair and beauty students from the college came fifth in the Total Team Look Presentation category.
