VOLUNTEERS are being urged to come together and help brighten up a shopping centre in the heart of their community.

One Planet Pioneers are joining forces with the Hemlington Linx Youth Project for the latest Community Action Day (CAD) Middlesbrough.

CAD is a series of monthly events intended to forge closer working links between local communities, organisations and friends groups.

The group would like to hear from young people and their friends and family who would be interested in helping to clear debris and litter.

One Planet Pioneers officer Nicky Morgan said: “Community Action Days are a great chance for everyone to get involved, and help to improve where you live, we hope to cast our net as far and wide as possible across Middlesbrough to help communities improve their neighbourhoods – all tasks will be considered.

“Throughout the year we will be working with communities across the town to help them improve their neighbourhoods.

“It’s a really opportunity to bring the community together, and a chance for people of all ages to gaining valuable work experience and learn new skills.”

Volunteers are asked to meet outside Hemlington Library at 10am tomorrow with the day due to run until 3pm.
