A FAMILY fun day will be held to raise funds for a North-East charity seeking to bring joy to children with life-threatening illnesses.

The fundraiser for Redcar-based Victoria’s Wish will be held at Sedgefield Cricket Club, Sedgefield, County Durham, on Sunday, May 7, from 11am to 5pm.

Organisers are promising a whole host of activities including a 30ft inflatable lazer quest, pony rides, bouncy castle, penalty shoot out, archery and fire engine rides.

There will also be refreshments on offer, arts and craft activities, face painting, a raffle and tombola plus photo opportunities with characters including Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

Danielle Johnson, one of the organisers, decided to raise funds for the charity after it awarded her daughter Jasmine an award for bravery shown in light of her youngest child Rosa’s cancer diagnosis.

She said: “The charity has managed to turn such tragic circumstances into creating many positive experiences for lots of families within the North East. During Rosa’s journey we are keen to give back to any of the organisations that have touched us. We are really excited about our family fun day and have loads of things planned.”

Rosa, aged three, is fighting acute lymphoblastic leukaemia on a course of treatment that will last until 2018.

The club bar will be open all day.
