A CHARITY shop is hosting its first wedding fair to show people that getting hitched does not have to cost a bomb.
The Mind shop in North Road, Durham is hosting the event on Saturday, March 18 and Sunday, March 19.
Store manager Denise Hedges said: “My two sons are getting married and seeing how much they are paying for their weddings inspired me to think of something for the people who can’t afford that.
“We have all these dresses and other bits and pieces and if people buy them they will also be helping mental health care and lobbying for better services.
“Hopefully the weekend will give us a boost and remind people that North Road is still open.”
Stores from around the region have donated wedding items, including bridal dresses, bridesmaid dresses, groomsmen suits, shoes, hats, veils and mother of the bride outfits.
Head volunteer Paula Colwill said: “”We’ve got a range of sizes and colours, vintage styles and modern ones. Some of the outfits cost £600 and they still have the tags on.”
