TWO charities have benefited from a village’s first Christmas tree festival.
More than 40 decorated trees were displayed at St Edmund’s Church, Sedgefield, during its inaugural festival in December.
Organisers decided to share the funds raised at the event between Butterwick Hospice, in Stockton, and DFW Adoption, in Durham, and last week lay reader Michael King presented cheques for £1,400 to representatives of each charity on behalf of the church.
Mr King praised the enthusiasm and dedication of the team which organised the festival, sponsors and members of the community who supported it.
He said: “There is no doubt it has been a huge success.”
