RESIDENTS tired of youths throwing stones and damaging cars in the Teesside during the school holidays have started filming the anti-social behaviour.

A spate of criminal damage in the Thornaby area over the last few days has seen car wing mirrors kicked off, cars scratched and children "running wild on estates".

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said police had received a number of reports of criminal damage to cars in Thornaby on Tuesday and officers were currently making inquiries.

She said streets affected included Cuthbert Close, Gilmour Street, Eric Avenue, Falkirk Street, Mansfield Avenue, Barker Road and Scarborough Street and mainly involved wing mirrors being knocked or snapped off cars.

One woman said on Facebook: "Parents need to take control. Enough is enough now."

Another said that 14 to 16-year-olds were drinking in the park, and others said their wing mirrors had been kicked off and taken, while some were hanging by the wires. Three cars on the same street were reportedly damaged.

One woman filmed the youngsters damaging cars and posted it on to Facebook.

Others were frustrated by what they saw as the lack of police action, and several had emailed Cleveland's Police and Crime Commissioner Barry Coppinger to complain.
