TWO hundred people formed a Nativity procession through a village, complete with sheep and donkeys.

The festive gathering started at Findon's village hall before about 200 people walked to the Gun Inn where Mary (played by Emma Greene) and Joseph (played by Harry Rayment) knocked on the door to see if there was any room at the inn. True to form, the inn keeper said no but let the couple go around to the stable at the back of the pub.

At the stable the animals were penned and carol singing was led by Helena Buque, rector of St John The Baptist church in the village near Worthing.

Graham Langford of the church, who also supplied the sheep from the Nepcote Flock, said the pub's garden was packed with local people at the event last Friday night.

He said: "Mulled wine and hot chocolate was enjoyed by all and a collection was split between East Clayton Farm [the charity which supplied the donkeys] and Worthing Churches For The Homeless."
