POLICE have identified the driver who died after losing control of his car near Wolsingham, County Durham, last night.
Dean Iley, a 21-year-old from Wolsingham, died shortly after the collision on the A689.
A spokesman for Durham Police said: "The incident occurred on the A689 between Harperley Roundabout and Wolsingham around 10.30pm on Thursday.
"It is understood that a black Renault Clio has joined the A689 at Harperley Roundabout and headed West towards Wolsingham.
"After travelling approximately half a mile, the motorist has lost control of the car and has left the carriageway to the nearside.
"The motorist subsequently died from his injuries."
Durham Constabulary would like to speak with anybody who may have seen the Renault Clio at or around the time of the collision.
