THE Open University has presented Sir Gary Verity with an honorary degree for his fundraising and sports work which put Yorkshire on the global stage.
The chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire was presented with the title of Master of the University at a degree ceremony at Harrogate International Centre recently.
He was awarded with the honour for his work in bringing the opening stages of the Tour de France 2014 to Yorkshire and going on to make it one of the most successful Grand Departs ever, as well as his charity work over the past ten years.
