CHILDREN in Evenwood got the chance to make and sell cakes as part of anti-bullying week.

The Educate and Celebrate charity stopped off at Ramshaw Primary School on their campaign trail which seeks to transform schools in the UK into LGBT+ friendly places.

Pupils took part in the London-based team’s Edu-cake and Cel-a-bake initiative where they make and sell cupcakes to raise awareness about bullying.

Head teacher Dominic Brown said: “We thought that having a massive baking session with the kids was a perfect way to bring the community together and to send friendship messages of peace and love from school to home.

“Our star bakers were Liz and Beth Garrett, but they were too shy to be on a photograph.”

Educate and Celebrate was founded in 2005 by Dr Elly Barnes MBE and has worked with thousands of schools and more than a million young people.
