A GROUP of teenagers raised cash for charity by walking from Bishop Auckland to Durham.
The four pupils from King James I Academy, in Bishop Auckland, set off on the 12-mile route today (Thursday).
As well as raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support, the walk was organised as part of their B Tech course in business.
Chloe Powell, 17, said: “We have to organise (an event) and work as a team and we decided it would be a good idea to raise money for charity.”
Before setting off for the estimated four-hour walk, the team had already raised £460 in sponsorship.
Sam Tongue, 18, said: “It’s a good charity and it’s close to home. We have had family members who have had cancer and passed away.”
Along with teacher David Longstaff, the team of four were travelling on foot on a route away from roads which took them along old train tracks and through Willington.
