A BARBER who has followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather has brought his Turkish traditions to Crook.

Ihsan Adiguzel, 32, and his wife, Susan, opened a traditional Turkish barbershop in Hope Street last week and have already welcomed more than 200 customers through the doors.

Originally from Turkey, the father-of-one comes from a long line of barbers and has lived in the UK for ten years, helping to run barbershops in Bishop Auckland, Darlington and Newton Aycliffe.

Ihsan’s Tradtional Turkish Barbershop is his first solo venture and he is thrilled with the welcome he has received from residents and other businesses in the town.

“It’s hard to put into words how I feel right now,” said Mr Adiguzel.

“I am absolutely delighted. Everyone has been so supportive. A lot of people have never been to a Turkish barbers before and they seem very interested in what we are doing.

“At a Turkish barbers you get more than just a hair cut, you receive a full grooming experience.

“We use a traditional cut throat razor and we look at the whole head, including the brows, nose, ears and neck.”

Mr Adiguzel, who now lives in Evenwood, is passionate about his profession and is looking to recruit a trainee to share his skills with.
