JOSH Teasdale reached the summit of Carlton Bank in record time at the weekend.
The professional rider, who is from Stockton, but based in Belgium with the Prorace team, clocked six minutes dead for the ascent up the punishing North Yorkshire incline.
For Teasdale, the Stockton Wheelers organised event was his second record-breaking ride of the day, having also won the Cleveland Wheelers Hill Climb on Clay Bank in a time of five minutes and 32 seconds.
Shaun Tyson, first veteran
"We were blessed with fantastic sunny weather and some fantastic support from the local cycling community," said Carlton Bank organiser, Shaun Teasdale.
Junior rider Adam Jarps (Manilla Cycling Team) took second place overall in a time of six minutes, 50 seconds, while Adept Precision rider Chris Sleath came home third.
"Such was the extent of his effort that he collapsed unconscious after the finish line. Fortunately, he regained his composure enough to make it back down to the HQ, eat cake and eventually ride back home. It was a perfect welcome to hill climbing for Chris," said Shaun.

As well as the usual age-related prizes, the organisers decided to create a new weight related prize - weight being the hill climber's biggest enemy.
"At 94 kilos hill climb stalwart Cameron Turner (Malton Wheelers) scaled the climb in a time of eight minutes 34 seconds and in the process won himself over 15,000 calories in wine, sweets and chocolates.
"Shaun Tyson (Adept Precision RT) won the Vets award, with Nikki Metcalfe (Manilla Cycling Team) taking the ladies prize.
"Stockton Wheelers Benjamin Massey took the Juvenile award in the U16 Category, while winner of the Lantern Rouge Prize was Stockton's Lee Bainbridge who won a month's worth of coaching with Josh Teasdale."
