AN ELDERLY man has been attacked by two men who called at his home in North Yorkshire this morning.

Police in Stokesley are appealing for witnesses after the 79-year-old man was assaulted in his own home on Leven Road in Stokesley between 9am and 10am this morning (Thursday, September 29).

The men attacked him and then ran off towards Westlands. He suffered an eye injury and was taken to hospital.

North Yorkshire Police are now appealing for witnesses and would like to hear from anyone who saw two men acting suspiciously in Leven Road, or the surrounding area, to contact them, along with anyone else who has information that could help the investigation.

Detective Sergeant Chris Parker-Beagrie of Northallerton Serious Crime Team, said: “This was a cowardly assault on an elderly man.

“We appreciate that local people may be concerned about that someone is targeting elderly residents, however, we believe that the attack was isolated and that the wider community are not at risk.

“Our priority is find the people responsible and I am appealing to anyone in the area who can assist our investigation to please get in touch as soon as possible.”
