A TEAM of enthusiastic volunteers are needed to help with a river clean-up in a town.

The Levenside Association in Stokesley is staging a river clean on Sunday, October 9, when volunteers are invited to help clear litter and debris from the waterway which runs through the centre of town.

At least once a year residents turn up to assist with the community event and help maintain the surrounding area.

Amelia Ashwell, from Stokesley, said the event is suitable for people of all ages, including children.

“Kids love getting their wellies on and getting in to clean the river. Our four-year-old loves it and is so passionate about not throwing litter,” she said.

“Binbags, gloves and litter-pickers are provided; all people need are their wellies and lots of enthusiasm.”

Anyone wanting to take part should meet at 10am on Bridge Street.

The Levenside Association is a not for profit organisation started in 1982 that aims to improve the environment around the River Leven in Stokesley.
