AN historic building in the centre of a County Durham has welcomed on board an events manager in response to increased demand.

The Grade II-listed Manor House, in Sedgefield, is hosting its first wedding this month following a refurbishment in 2014.

The building has had a variety of uses in its 300 year history but in recent years was launched as a business centre, and has secured a licence for events and marriages.

Owner and managing director Ean Parsons recently made the decision to hire a dedicated events manager and has appointed resident Marie Walker.

Ms Walker said: “It has been wonderful to see this beautiful building being brought into use as a major attraction in the town.

“There is even more that we can do here and I’d like to see the Manor House become an attractive venue to individuals and organisations beyond Sedgefield for weddings, events and the arts.”
