FUNDRAISERS competing in a 30 mile bike ride were sustained by enforced stops at 13 pubs in an annual charity ride through the dales.

The Lower Dales Cycle ride, sponsored by brewery T and R Theakston raised over £3,000 with 50 cyclists setting off and finishing at the Old black Swan in Bedale. The money will be shared between the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Herriot Hospice, St Michael’s Hospice in Harrogate and support for ovarian cancer.

T and R Theakston manager Barry Gibb, said: “Once again Theakston’s has been delighted to sponsor this pint-sized Tour de Yorkshire. “I would like to pay tribute to everyone who came along and helped raise such a magnificent sum for charity.

“The weather was on our side and the route takes in some truly stunning countryside, as well as some terrific Yorkshire hostelries, that were very accommodating on the day.”

A presentation evening is due to be held later in the year.
