A CHARITY runner will be in a bit of a prickle when he takes part in the Great North Run wearing a hedgehog onesie.
Andrew Lockey, a recruitment consultant from Durham, hopes to raise £1000 for the British Hedgehog Preservation Society by taking on the 13-mile course on September 11 in costume.
So far, the 25-year-old has raised more than £740 and hopes to reach his total before the big day.
He said: “As someone who has an affinity with the great outdoors, it saddens me to know hedgehogs are in danger.
“Unfortunately, it is far more often I see a hedgehog having been hit on a road than in a hedgerow snuffling away”.
