A BISHOP Auckland-based charity which helps war veterans get back into work has completed its latest fundraiser with a 24-hour endurance karting race.
Veteran Tommy Lowther set up Sporting Force in 2014 in a bid to help wounded, injured and sick service men and women make the transition back to civilian life through the sport.
The 34-year-old suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after serving in Iraq, Ireland and Gibraltar.
The father-of-two was joined by Ricky Lowther, Jason Wilkes and Grant Price, as well as Ian Cassidy and Charlie Nicholson.
The team completed the race despite Mr Lowther fracturing his clavicle and dislocating his shoulder.
“We wanted to show that event hough some of these guys have got injuries and serious mental heath issues, including myself, we have still got a bit about us and can still get on and do a job,” he said.
