TRAIN services on the East Coast mainline were delayed on Thursday morning after reports of a “rough ride” near Northallerton.
Trains were stopped for an hour from about 10am while engineers repacked ballast to stabilise the line at Longlands Junction.

Services resumed at a low speed around an hour later before normal running was resumed shortly before noon.
