A FREE workshop is being held to help job hunters find employment and improve customer service.

Durham Business Improvement District [BID] is putting on the training scheme to help people looking for work in the city.

It is being held on Wednesday, August 24 and Thursday, August 25, from 10am in the Durham BID offices in, inSaddler Street, and will last approximately 90 minutes.

Those taking part will complete topics including customer engagement, adding value and the psychology of selling before receiving a certificate of achievement.

Adam Deathe, business engagement manager at Durham BID, said: “This scheme has been in the planning for a while now and I’m delighted to officially launch it and open the doors to our first raft of delegates.

“The purpose of such a scheme is to create a network of highly skilled and customer-focused employees with businesses across the city that place great value on these qualities. All the while working with the delegates to deliver information about Durham that is integral to the visitor experience, upgrading skills to create a really exceptional experience when using the different services on offer in the city.”

The workshop has been designed and developed in partnership with Durham BID and Bill Moir, who has worked in consultancy developing business people in selling and interpersonal skills.

He said: “The way people are treated and the customer service they experience really does leave a lasting impression, that’s why it’s so important to get it right.”
