SHOPPERS are in for a treat when a group of fancy dress-loving bikers turn out in their favourite costumes to raise money for charity.

Members of the Boundary 500 Motorcycle Group will be setting up shop in Thornaby’s Pavilion shopping Centre on Saturday to show their support for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Donning Batman, Mickey Mouse, Ninja Turtles and Minions costumes they hope to raise £800 while they are on site between 10am and 3pm.

Brian Laverick, the group’s founder, said: “Lots of our bikers will be at the centre for the bucket collection, where shoppers can contribute to our £800 target and children will be able to take lots of photos with their favourite characters.”

The group, which also organises its annual Santa Ride at the centre, will be displaying members’ bikes for motorcycling enthusiasts to enjoy.

“Motor biking is a very popular hobby and our bikers have a range of motorcycles including modern, classic and monkey bikes, which will be on the high streets main square for a special display,” he added.

“The Alzheimer’s Society is an extremely important charity to Boundary 500 and we are currently in the process of partnering with Pavilion to open a ‘Dementia Café’ in the town. With our fundraising efforts the charity will be able to support dementia sufferers through further research and dedication to care.”

Centre manager Oliver Westley is urging people to pop down and support the bikers’ charity event, which takes place between 10am and 3pm, on Saturday, August 13.
