A MAN was cut from his vehicle after a collision with a lorry yesterday morning.

The driver of a black Volkswagen car was stationary at temporary traffic lights near Redworth Hall on the A607 between Shildon and Redworth when the collision occurred at 8.20am.

His vehicle was hit from behind by the lorry and then shunted into the car in front.

Occupants of the third vehicle, which was also damaged were uninjured.

The driver of the Volkswagen was conscious and talking to paramedics as they treated him at the scene.

The extent of his injuries, or those of the lorry driver are not yet known.

The A607 between Shildon and Redworth was closed for much of the morning.
