EMERGENCY services were called to the Wearmouth Bridge in Sunderland as tens of thousands of fans left Tuesday night's Beyonce gig.
The US singer had been performing at the Stadium of Light to 50,000 fans.
As the concert ended and the crowd began leaving across the Wearmouth Bridge it was reported a man was seen in some distress on the bridge.
The incident is said to have caused traffic hold ups as it was dealt with.
One witness reported that there was a heavy police presence in the area into the early hours, alongside the Coastguard and fire and rescue services.
The witness added that one man appeared to be kneeling on a wheelchair close to bridge's edge.
A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: "At around 10.30pm officers located the man on the wrong side of the railings on the Wearmouth Bridge.
"Officers negotiated with the man and he was brought to safety at around 1.15am."
