A VOLUNTEER is set to host his first art exhibition at the visitor centre where he helps out.
Semi-professional artist and wildlife enthusiast, Martin Rogers, will be giving visitors to the Bowlees Visitor Centre, in Newbiggin, Teesdale, the chance to view and buy his photographs throughout June.
The 65-year-old, who lived in London for four decades before moving to Middleton-in-Teesdale six years ago, said he has always been inspired by Teesdale’s beauty and tried to capture elements of it that people might not see at first.
“It’s mostly landscapes and natural history; everything from fungi to birds,” he said.
“I just think the dales is an amazing place and I think coming in from outside you perhaps see things slightly differently.”
Now semi-retired from education and children’s services, Mr Rogers has enjoyed volunteering for the centre, which is run by the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Beauty and hopes to inspire others to explore the dale.
The photographs and prints will be available to buy. For more information call 01833-622145.
