THE Bishop of West Yorkshire and the Dales, the Rt Rev Nick Baines, helped host a special day of Praise in the Park in Bedale.

The event, held to celebrate Pentecost, started with games and activities for children including a tag rugby game. Music was provided by musicians from Northallerton’s New Life Baptist church and Richmond Influence church.

Puppeteers from Wensleydale, and members of the Messy church from the Methodist churches of Bedale also helped provide entertainment.

Rector of Bedale, Rev Ian Robinson, said: "It was a wonderful day, this was our gift to Bedale to celebrate the Birthday of the church and everyone left with a small wooden dove as a reminder of God’s love and continued presence with us.

“We want to thank everyone for taking part.”

Organisers of the event used the Church in the Dales trailer which was launched by the Deanery of Wensley and the local Methodist chapels to work with and help communities in the Dales and along the A684 corridor.
