He said: “Wayne will be sadly missed by his family and many VW enthusiast friends and will be remembered for his outgoing care-free personality. Rest in peace.”

Dozens also took to Facebook to pay their respects to “little Wayne” and a page called ‘Air cooled VW repairs North East’ was altered to include the phrase ‘Remembering Wayne Seal’.

One friend, Gavin Sacife, posted:” You will be missed my mate still can’t believe you've gone too soon you're in my thoughts mate you won't be forgotten rest in peace mate.”

The crash happened just days after 61-year-old Audrey Elliott, of Durham, died when the Audi A6 she was travelling in left the road and collided with a concrete post on the A688, Barford Corner between Staindrop and Barnard Castle, on Friday night.
