A FERRYHILL care home has been praised by an independent regulator for health and social care.

The HC-One-owned Tenlands Care Home, on Wood Lane, was rated as ‘good’ following an unannounced inspection from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

In a report from the regulator, the facility is described as “attaining high standards” in all five of the key areas which are assessed, demonstrating that it is “safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led”.

The report said: “We spoke with a range of different team members - care, nursing, senior, kitchen staff, students and volunteers who told us they felt well-supported and that the registered manager was caring, passionate and approachable.

“We saw that staff interacted with each other and the people who used the service in a friendly, supportive, positive and respectful manner.

“The atmosphere was welcoming, homely and relaxed.”

Victoria Lee, care home manager, said: “We are delighted to receive such a positive report from the CQC.

“The team at Tenlands work hard every day to ensure residents receive the best possible care."

Glen Mason, HC-One managing director, added: “It is great to hear of Tenlands’ achievement and is a great reflection of the great work the team put in to provide the Residents with the kindest care.”
