VEHICLES abandoned in Darlington have cost three motorists £1,246.48 in fines and courts costs. Lisa May, of Rockingham Street, and Eric Rickerby, of Cockerton Green, both in Darlington, both failed to arrive in Darlington Magistrates' Court yesterday (April 25) and both cases were proved in their absence. Stephen Munday, who lives at an address in Essex, pleaded guilty to magistrates by post after abandoning his vehicle in Darlington, and he was also fined for the offence. May and Rickerby must both cover costs of £405.24 each, on top of £220 and £60 fines respectively. All three must also pay a £20 victim surcharge.
