A BURLESQUE dance troupe which appeared on Britain’s Got Talent last year have performed for veterans at Phoenix House.
Lorraine Courtney, from Ruby Red Performers, thanked staff from the Help for Heroes recovery centre in Catterick Garrison for inviting them and praised their work.
Ruby Red Performers appeared on Britain’s Got Talent last year, performing a routine dressed at 1950s cleaning women to Queen’s I Want To Break Free before stripping down to large underwear.
The group progressed to the semi-final but did not make the final of the competition.
The group dressed in army-style outfits for a short route at Phoenix House, and have so far raised £900 for Help for Heroes from their performances.
Melanie Dickinson, Phoenix House executive officer said: “Many of the ladies in Ruby Red Performers have faced adversity in their life and have turned it into something positive, which is similar to what we aim to do at Phoenix House for the wounded, injured and sick servicemen, women and veterans that we support.
“Their can-do approach is inspirational and we can all take something from that. Everyone who watched their performance had a smile on their face for a long time afterwards.”
