POLICE have said the death of a man whose body was found in a North-East house is not being treated as suspicious.
Officers were called to Fox Street in Seaham, County Durham, on Tuesday where the body of a man in his 40s was discovered.
Several houses at the bottom of the street were taped off by police so investigations could take place.
Today, (Wednesday, February 10) a spokesman for Durham Constabulary said the death was ‘unexplained at this stage, but not believed to be suspicious.’
A post mortem examination is to be carried out to establish the cause of the man’s death.
An inquest is expected to be held by the County Durham coroner to determine the circumstances.
The death has come as a surprise to people who live in the coastal community.
One woman, who lives opposite the house where the body was found, said: “I came to the door and saw the police tape from the lamppost to the bottom of the street. I did not hear anything though and have no idea what has happened.”
