THE inquest into a County Durham father’s death has been opened.
Darren Lawler’s body was found at a property in Bessemer Street in his hometown of Ferryhill, on August 19 last year, two months after he went missing.
The discovery followed an extensive search by police, mountain rescue teams, friends, family and the wider community who turned out en masse to find the 31-year-old.
His partner, Ashley Clarke, made a passionate plea for him to return to her and their baby son, Harley-James, and his photograph was shared thousands of times on social media.
The inquest was opened at Crook Coroner’s Court today (February 5) and adjourned.
The next hearing will be on March 7, at 9am.
