CHILDREN and parents have been getting into the Christmas spirit with a visit from Santa, a reindeer and the White Witch.

Hunwick Primary School, in County Durham, held its annual Christmas fair and fundraiser on Wednesday, November 25.

This year’s event was themed on CS Lewis' Narnia to tie in with work the children have been doing in school and pupils got to meet the novel’s White Witch, who came to school with Pancake the reindeer.

The school council also organised games and there were stalls run by parents and organisations, while every child got to visit Santa Claus.

Teacher Kate Barker said: “The children have been doing a range of activities themed on Narnia in the run up, including studying the book and having a cinema night to watch the film.

“This is a spectacular seasonal event. Hunwick Primary School has been transformed into the land of Narnia and it’s a fantastic way to start the Christmas festivities.”

The Friends of Hunwick Primary School organised the event to raise money for new play equipment for the older children.
