BARNARD Castle Prep School pupils had a more relaxed approach to learning earlier this month when all 201 pupils turned up to school in their pyjamas.

As an idea of the School Council, Pyjama Day was a way of raising money for Children in Need with students turning up in pyjamas and onesies.

The Prep School’s School Council, consisting of pupils from each class, decide on which charities they would like to support, to include both local and national ones, having seen in assembly how their money can help.

So far this academic year they have already raised money for Epilepsy Action and Save the Children.

The school managed to raise more than £375 for the charity during the event which even saw the teachers hang up their suits and skirts for a day.

Deputy Headteacher, Nick Seddon, said: “The idea came from the children who are always keen to support worthwhile charities.

“This seemed a perfect opportunity to participate, knowing that their efforts help make a real different to those less fortunate than themselves.”
