A COMMUNITY came together for a special remembrance concert in Bishop Auckland earlier this month.
The Bishop Auckland Music Society held the special event at St. Andrew's Church, to remember the fallen and to raise funds for the Help for Heroes (HFH) charity.
The Andreas Ensemble, together with Brancepeth Village Choir, came together on Sunday, November 15, in the celebration to remember those who lost their lives in war.
Following a performance of the Faure requiem, the audience and choirs joined together to sing well-known hymns, interspersed with a selection of readings associated with war, many of which were delivered by pupils from King James I Academy, in Bishop Auckland.
The concert raised about £600 which is to set to be shared between the church and HFH, which is Bishop Auckland Mayor, Lee Brownson's, chosen charity for the year.
Councillor Brownson said: "I'd like to personally thank the Bishop Auckland Music Society for organising this special remembrance service which has helped to raise money for my mayoral charity of the year - Help For Heroes.
“It was a wonderful service, the young people from King James Academy read the poems very well and the joint performances from the choirs were beautiful."
