SEDGEFIELD Borough Council's labour leader Bob Fleming faces a fifth recount this morning as he tries to hold on to his seat in Shafto St Marys, Newton Aycliffe.
The ward's two other sitting councillors, Mr Fleming's wife Angela and cabinet member Malcom Iveson looked already out when counting stopped at Spennymoor Leisure Centre at 3.30am.
Mr Fleming looked to be neck and neck with Independent Brian Haigh, with Paul Gittins and Terry Hogan voted in.
