A MYSTERY invasion of crabs has taken over a train station.
Dozens of the crustaceans were found crawling along the platform of Gateshead Metro Station at lunchtime yesterday.
As bemused passengers looked on, several of the crabs were spotted both on the platform and in the carriages of the train.
There is no indication yet how the crabs reached the town centre station, which is a good 10 miles from the sea.
Footage of the crab invasion began circulating on social media last night.
