FOREIGN visitors have been on a fact-finding trip to view a successful volunteer scheme.
A team of 30 visitors from Germany's national parks and conservation areas spoke to volunteers with North York Moors National Park - the park has about 800 volunteers.
The visitors were interested in how volunteers with special needs and learning disabilities coped.
The Germans also joined the park's conservation task force and the young ranger scheme.
Graham Stubbs, the park's volunteers officer, said: "The volunteers play a vital role in helping to look after the park and it is something that we feel all national parks should benefit from.
"We are very proud of the invaluable work provided by our volunteers and were only too happy to share thoughts and practices with our counterparts in Germany."
