ORCHIDS of all colours and varieties will go on show at the largest event showcasing the popular flowering plant in the North.
The fifth Durham Orchid Show this Sunday (September 6) will feature spectacular blooms displayed by seven societies from the Midlands to Scotland, eight traders’ stands, with plenty of plants and sundries available for sale.
Organised by leading lights in the orchid world, Chris and Jean Barker, of the Darlington Orchid Society, the event has grown rapidly in its opening few years.
The venue is Josephine Butler College, at Howlands Farm, off South Road, Durham, DH1 3DF, with the show running from 10am to 4pm.
There is free entry and parking, while visitors are welcome to take along their orchids to ask for advice from experts on site.
