A GROUP which aims to encourage residents to get involved with the future plans of Ronaldshay Park, Richmond, held its first event last week.

The Plan Your Play Park group launched its consultation with an event in the park on Friday, August 28, and was attended by more than 100 parents and children of all ages, including skateboarders.

The event featured face painting, decorating cakes and biscuits, arts and crafts, and cakes donated by volunteers and Edwina’s Cakes. Parents, children and young people had the opportunity to look through play equipment brochures and fill in the questionnaire about what they would like to see.

The group said it had been overwhelmed by the initial response to the consultation which aims to create a play plan for the park, designed by the local community and park users. The consultation and survey will run until the end of October and can be found at www.richmondshire.gov.uk/survey/play.

The group intends to consult with other community groups, and has thanked police, Scout Association, Richmondshire Community and Voluntary Action, and Edwina’s Cakes.
