MIXED WEATHER conditions and, in particular, strong winds conspired to keep visiting number low at Witton Castle Lakes this week. 55 visiting anglers braved the blustery conditions and managed to return a very respectable rod average of 3.7.
Two anglers managed to make it to the 15 fish limit this week, they were D.Boyd and A.P.Carroll. N.Midgley had double figure bags on 2 separate visits this week, one of 12 and one of 11 fish. Rounding off the sheets were A.Currie with 9 fish and E.Looney & T.Ross both with 7 fish each.
The best fish of the week went to S.Hall with a superb 8lb 3oz rainbow.
Buzzers and CDC’s have continued to perform well on the lakes and this week they were joined by daddies, hoppers and the suspender buzzer.
It’s the Bank Holiday week ahead and the weather looks like another mixed bag, although the winds are forecast to ease, which should make conditions on the lakes a little more manageable.
