A DRIVER from Darlington was killed when his sports car overturned on the A1(M).

Durham Police are appealing for witnesses after the accident on the A1(M), southbound carriageway approximately one mile south of Juction 60, the Bradbury Interchange at about 8.55pm hours on Saturday.

"It is understood that a 25-year-old male, from the Darlington area, was driving his Honda S2000 motor vehicle south on the A1(M) when for reasons yet to be established, the vehicle has left the carriageway to the nearside and come to rest on it’s roof," said a spokesman for Durham Constabulary. "The driver was declared deceased at the scene.

"Durham Constabulary would like to speak with anybody who may have seen the collision itself, or the Honda motor vehicle prior to the occurrence of the collision."
