A GENEROUS teenager’s close shave has raised around £100 for a national cancer charity.
Anton Hodgson dyed his hair bright pink before getting it shaved off to raise money for Cancer Research UK in memory of his great-grandfather, who lost his fight again cancer last year.
The 15-year-old, whose grandfather has also been diagnosed with cancer, enlisted the help of friend and singing coach, Kymberely Savage, who shaved his hair in front of onlookers in a Darlington street.
The youngster, who works at a hairdressers in the town, said: “It was quite nerve-wracking. I have tried to raise as much money as I can.
“I think some of my friends didn’t think I would go through with it in the end.
“I would like to set up a charity which would lend money to people who are going through a crisis, like cancer.”
The youngster is hoping to host a number of events in the future to raise more money for charity.
